「へんしん」の特殊能力が魅力のメタモンらしく、その姿は、あらゆる具体性を拒否するような不思議なかたちをしています。
これはとびきり難題です。
無心になってぼーっとしていると、なんとなく、これくらいの分量でこんな感じに折ったらメタモンになるかな、と全体の感じが浮かんできました。
そして折っていったら、できあがっていたのでした。
しかも、甘ったるさの一切ない、シンプルで、シャープな美しいフォルムです。
ほとんど無意識でしたから、後に折り図を描くとき、どう折ったのかまったくわからず、紙を開いて、どういう順に折っていったのか、ひとつひとつ精査したのでした。
折り方は難しくないのですが、ベースとなるおりがみの型もないし、お定まりのパターンも、合わせる辺や角もありません。
まったく自由に折っています。
そんなわけで、折るところを㎜で指定です。
個人的にメタモンのファンなので、いつもメタモンを持ち歩いています。
下は、4分の1のサイズの折り紙で折った、小さいメタモン。
いろいろなところに、生息させています。
この作品は1999年に著作権者の監修を受け正式に許諾を得たものです。

■メタモンは、ピンクがかった薄紫色の紙で折る。

1. Fold down at a position 24 mm below the top edge. Also, fold up at a position 13 mm above the bottom edge.
2. Fold AB, and CD respectively, make creases, and unfold.
A is 10 mm to the right from the left,
B is 65 mm to the right from the left,
C is 10 mm below the upper right corner,
D is 47 mm to the left from the right edge.
3. Hold down ▲ with your finger, open the arrow, and fold the left piece of paper to the right.

5. Open the arrow and fold the right piece of paper to the left.

7. Fold the bottom half upwards.

10. Unfold all the paper folded in steps 7, 8, and 9.

English Commentary
12. Fold along crease 1 made in step 8, and crease 2 made in step 9 will be folded naturally, and crease 3 will be folded as well.

13. Fold the paper in between the left and right sides using an inside reverse fold and tuck it into the gap between the papers to create the shape of 14.
14. Fold the left and right sides of the paper upwards.
15. Fold the edges of the paper to the back and adjust the shape.

17. Fold both the left and right sides using an inside reverse fold and tuck them into the gap between the papers.
18. Ditto is complete.
